Hydrangea s. ’Miyama yae Murasaki’ is one of the finest double lacecap forms from Japan. Pink on neutral to sweet soil, it will be a wonderful purple on acid. About 4’ tall & as wide. "A spectacular and majestic plant." (Corinne Mallet, Hydrangeas, Species & Cultivars, Vol II - of the Shamrock Collection, Varengeville-sur-Mer, France, the world’s largest collection of hydrangea species & cultivars). The purple coloration seen in the photos are of this cultivar on our acid (pH 5.7) clay soil at the nursery. The pink blooms shown are of it as we grow it in containers for sale; there’s no aluminum in our pine bark growing mix (the container "soil") so no way to go to blue or purple. Your garden will control the final color but let’s agree, it’s beautiful in any garden. Zones 5-8.
