Sarcococca ruscifolia var. chinensis ’Dragon Gate’ - 3 quart This is the least cold hardy of the 4 different Sweetbox we occasionally grow, hardy for Zones 7 - 9. It’s a selection made by plant explorer Roy Lancaster from Yunnan China near the Dragon Gate Grotto and Dianchi Lake. Grows to about 3 feet and produces fragrant, creamy-white flowers in winter (Feb in GA) and red berries. Good for a shady, evergreen ground cover in a sheltered site.

Sarcococca hookeriana var. digyna ’Purple Stem’ - trade gallon
This evergreen shrub stays small, to perhaps 3 feet, with lustrous green leaves and black fruits. This selection ’Purple Stem’ has new growth that is (surprise!) purple. It has white, fragrant flowers in late February with a tinge of pink. Like all the Sarcococcas, it is best planted in partial shade to shade. It will not be happy in full sun. These are 3 quart plants. Zones 6 - 8.
