Michael Lindsey Sweetshrub - trade gallon
Michael Lindsey Sweetshrub - trade gallon One of the holy grail of woody ornamentals, Calycanthus floridus ’Michael Lindsey’ is the best sweetshrub available for many reasons -- fragrance, stature, dark green foliage. You might find it listed elsewhere & it may be the real item but difficulty in propagating this plant has contributed to its mythic status & has meant that the very few sources selling it have often used tissue culture to clone it. We’re not luddites but some plants that go into the test tube emerge slightly skewed on exit. Ours are rooted cuttings from the original plant we bought from Holbrook Farm in the early 90’s. For years we were bollixed in our attempt to propagate it & may be again, but for now we have a tidy crop of the real deal. Zones 5 - 9. Deciduous & delicous. Height to 6 feet.
