A favorite of ours, this small Japanese form is nearly a mophead even though it is a "mountain" hydrangea (Hydrangea serrata ’Akishino-Temari’) from the higher elevations in Japan where native forms are usually lacecap. The blooms are pastel pink or blue on a smallish plant that is ideal for shady nooks. We have observed a second flush of blooms in the fall, which is an added bonus. Splendid plant offered by only a handful of nurseries in this country. 3’ x 3’ for zones 5-8.
