Wade Mahlke Oakleaf - trade gallon
Wade Mahlke Oakleaf - trade gallon Hydrangea quercifolia ’Wade Mahlke’ is often referred to as "Emerald Lake" as it was introduced by Mr. Mahlke of Emerald Lake, AL. We first got one from friend and avid plantsman, Hayes Jackson of Anniston, AL, but if so we killed that one. In 2004 we took cuttings of it at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens which had it tagged as "Emerald Lake." It’s a mostly sterile form like ’Harmony’, ’Roanoke’ or ’Vaughn’s Lillie’ with a more compressed and rounded white bloom head. Height to 7 feet and as wide. Zones 6 - 9. We never grow many as it has no PR team and flashy marketing behind it, but it’s still a nice form.
