Description

Soil:

Roses need moist, slightly acidic, well-draining soil to grow vigorously throughout the season. This flowering shrub could also benefit from the addition of compost, aged manure, or leaf mold to the planting soil.

Light:

Some roses can grow in part sun, but most thrive in full sun (> 6 hours sun) environments. Check your rose cultivar to determine if it’s more shade-tolerant.

Water:

Try to keep the soil evenly moist, especially in their first growing season. Never allow the rose foliage to remain wet into the evening; water early in the day. Failure to do so could cause diseased plants.

Fertilizing:

Feed your roses with a blended fertilizer made for roses to keep the flowers coming. This can be done after each bloom cycle.

Winterizing:

Spread a layer of composted manure, compost, or shredded leaves over the base of the plant in late fall after the ground freezes. Covering these mounds and the lower parts of the bushes with evergreen boughs will add protection. Pull the mounding material away from the stem as new growth emerges in spring. Prune injured branches over when new buds emerge in spring.

Maintenance & Pruning:

Prune to remove deadwood, control or direct growth, and promote flowering. Wait until growth breaks in early spring before pruning. Every 2 or 3 years, remove about one-third of the old branches to stimulate new, fresh growth. Remove faded flowers to encourage blooming.

Reminiscent coral rose

I haven't had it long enough to give you any answers. I just got it 2-3 weeks ago. It will need quite some time to blossom. So ask me again in 6 months or a year.

Great Company!!

I have been a little hesitant to buy roses in the mail. Sometimes buying plant through the mail is ify.. some times a good experience other times a nightmare.
But Great Garden Plants has taken that fear out of me. The plants came healthy and the labeling has made me excited. They give you a card with descriptions plus the pots are labeled also on the pots. Which I was able to take off and tape it to my pvc fence for easy reference. This way all I have to do is check the tags for ordering more of the same roses. I just planted them due to freeze temperatures in ourzone 4 area. Placed them on our porch, watered, covered when temperatures was below 32 degrees.
Thank you, for your great service and great plants and roses!! Suzie- North Creek, NY.

Not Good :(

I ordered 6 of these last June and only one made it through the winter. I have 50 roses in my garden (many planted as bare roots)-- I know how to care for roses. Everything was winterized, and we had a very mild winter in NY. All but one are dead or almost dead. To summarize, one is growing and the remaining 2 have a tiny little cane with die back and cankers (no leaves). The others were already pulled out. I keep hoping for the best, but have to come to terms with the fact that I thew my $$ in the toilet with this purchase. :( These plants were far too young to be planted in the ground. If you should buy them, put them in a pot for the ENTIRE season. Plant in the ground in the fall. :)

Hello! We're sorry to hear that you had some trouble with our roses. Our team is always available to help out and we do have a money back guarantee on all of our plants. Again, we apologize. Happy Gardening!
